2 Quickwrite ! At an early age, Ben considered what he wanted to be when he grew up. He was inspired by stories of medical doctors, especially missionary doctors. What are your thoughts for your future? What or who has inspired your dreams?

3 Myths, Legends, and Tales Balanced Assessment (One-Pager Literature Activity) – TWO group members will work on this together. 1. Choose two meaningful, significant quotes from the selection 2. Create a graphic representation of the quotes. 3. Write a response to the quotes (4-5 sentences). Follow these directions for your “one-pager”: include the author and title of the selection must have two meaningful, significant quotes – use MLA citation for author/pg. must have a graphic representation (picture) must have a personal response (short paragraph) response paragraph can be about theme, character development, conflicts, setting, tone, literary devices, figurative language response is NOT a summary, review or paraphrase response is commentary – should be written in third person; (no use of you or I) Follow these directions for the illustration: use one page of unlined white paper fill the entire page use color no pencil – use pen and colored pencils or markers put your name and class period in the lower right hand corner

4 Myths, Legends, and Tales Mind Map A mind map is a graphical way to represent ideas and concepts. It is a visual thinking tool that structures information: helping you to better analyze, comprehend, synthesize, recall and generate new ideas. TWO (or three, if you have five members in your group) will work on this together. Illustrate scenes from your myth, legend or tale. You must include at least 7 slides: 1. Exposition 2. Rising Action 3. Rising Action 4. Climax 5. Falling Action 6. Falling Action 7. Resolution
