Facts About The Grapefruit Diet The premise of the diet is based on an alleged “magical” ingredient in grapefruits Designed to promote fast weight loss, but the weight generally returns as soon as the dieter goes off the diet Low calorie, low carbohydrates, and high in protein

Facts about weight loss during the diet Most versions promise a 10 pound weight loss during 12 days Exercise is often recommended during the diet Grapefruit diet averages around 800- 1000 calories per day An addition of half a grapefruit or 4 ounces of juice with meals results in weight loss

Grapefruit Facts Nutritious low calorie fruit 66-84 calories per serving Filled with vitamin C and fiber Low glycemic index The fiber, low glycemic index, and low calorie nature of the fruit reduce insulin levels and help dieters feel full and eat fewer calories

Sample Meal Plan Breakfast: - 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon, black coffee, ½ a grapefruit or 8 ounces of grapefruit juice Lunch: -salad with dressing, unlimited meat, ½ a grapefruit or 8 ounces of grapefruit juice Dinner: -red or green vegetables(except starchy ones such as peas, beans, corn, or sweet potatoes) or salad, unlimited meat or fish, and ½ a grapefruit or 8 ounces of grapefruit juice Bedtime Snack: -8 ounces of milk

Cabbage Soup Diet Facts Based on a fat-burning soup that contains very little calories The more soup you eat, the more weight you lose Should not be followed as a long-term diet, dangerously low in calories Nobody has claimed official ownership of the diet though, many magazines and websites have created their own version

Cabbage Soup Diet Facts Continued Basic idea is to starve yourself by drinking a lot of cabbage soup If you fill your stomach with cabbage soup, then you won’t be hungry

Dieter’s Schedule Day one: -On day one, you can eat all the fruit you want (except bananas). On this day, you are only allowed to eat your soup and fruit. If you’re thirsty, go to the fridge for some unsweetened teas, cranberry juice or water. Day two: -Today, eat lots of vegetables but, stay away from dry beans, peas and corn. Have some soup and enjoy a big, baked potato with butter, if you wish.

Dieter’s Schedule Day three: - Eat as much fruit, vegetables and soup as you want but, no baked potato. Day four: - Eat as many as eight bananas and as many glasses of skim milk as your heart desires, along with your soup. Day five: - Eat ten to twenty ounces of beef and as many as six tomatoes. Drink lots of water with your soup.

Dieter’s Schedule Day six: - Enjoy eating your heart’s content of beef and vegetables. Eat your soup at least once. Day seven: - Eat brown rice, unsweetened fruit juices and vegetables. Remember to stuff yourself and eat your soup at least once.

Negative effects of the diet -The cabbage soup diet is fast acting and has some good reviews, but some people find the soup bland -You may feel light headed, weak, and suffer from decreased concentration. -During this diet, you will mostly consume cabbage soup, onion, celery, carrots, tomatoes and mushrooms. Although this sounds healthy, it is actually lacking in nutrition.
