These symbols mean all sorts of different things like a U shaped symbol represents a man and a large circle with six smaller circles surrounding it is a star.

Emily KngwarreyeEmily Kngwarreye Born in 1910, Emily didn't’t take up painting till she was nearly 80. She lived near Alice Springs in the desert. She started painting in traditional dot style paintings but her later paintings were more abstract and modern style. She is the most famous Aboriginal woman Artist with her paintings selling for over 100,000 dollars. In May 2007 her painting Earths Creation sold for over 1,000,000 dollars, the highest price ever for an Australian Aboriginal artwork. She died in 1996.

Clifford PossumClifford Possum Born in 1932, Clifford is the most famous Australian Aboriginal Male artist. He lived in Northern Territory’s Western Desert. He painted traditional dot style paintings. His painting Warlugulong sold in 2007 for 2,400,000 dollars the highest price ever paid for an Aboriginal painting beating Emily's sale in May of that year. He died in 2002 on the day he was due to receive The Order of Australia which is an award that recognises GREAT citizenship to Australia.
