3 Speaking Performance Ace: (8-10) 1) initiates & maintains interaction with students for the full time given, filling in time sparingly with related follow up questions. 2) is able to connect topics discussed in class with real life experience 3) is able to promote conversational balance by recognizing a balance between providing statements and asking follow up questions (shows an interest in learning about his/her interlocutor) 4) is able to clearly compare and contrast course material across subject areas 5) conveys a genuine interest and enthusiasm in the various topics discussed in class.

4 Speaking Performance Average: (5-7) 1) initiates & maintains interaction with students 2) attempts to connect topics discussed in class with real life experience at times 3) inconsistently shows interest in his/her interlocutor, or is unable to promote conversation balance 4) is able to moderately clearly compare and contrast course material across subject areas 5) conveys moderate levels of interest in the various topics discussed in class.
