2  5-6 years old in a class of 20.  SES – mostly middle class students.  50% split between genders.  Cultural diversity – split up between Caucasian and African American.  Small amount of students on IEP.

3  Common Core State Standards for Mathematics – Kindergarten….  “ Solve addition and subtraction word problems, and add and subtract within 10, e.g., by using objects or drawings to represent the problem”

4  Given basic addition problems, the students will be able to solve these problems by demonstrating their understanding with at least 80% accuracy.
