2 Why “Think Pharmacy” Pharmacists train for five years There are 438 million visits to community pharmacy a year There are over 11,500 community pharmacies in England Community pharmacies are highly accessible 96% of the population – even those living in most deprived areas can get to a pharmacy within 20 minutes Adults in England visit a pharmacy on average 16 times per year Many are open for extended hours in evenings and weekends

6 What Pharmacies Can Do Offer advice, guidance and medication Exchange prescription for medication as prescribed by GP Give advice on medicines Review your medicines in private Take your old and unwanted medicines and dispose of them safely Offer advice and signpost you to services to help you lose weight, stop smoking or cut down on alcohol

7 They can also provide… The morning after pill Support and treatment to stop smoking Advice and support on reducing alcohol use Supervised methadone consumption Treatment for some minor ailments free of charge or no more than £7.85 if you pay for scripts

8 “Think Pharmacy” Our vision is that you will be able to: 1.Consult a health professional close to your home without an appointment 2.Get advice / treatment for some common conditions without a prescription
