17 Effective Meetings Agenda is a must. Adhere to the agenda. –Add items brought up during the meeting to the end of the agenda OR –Assign work to a committee. –Board meetings are not committee meetings! Choose an effective Chairperson, they should be: –Motivated –Confident –Someone everyone respects. –Organized and a systematic thinker. –Capable of commanding control without being offensive. –Not in it for themselves but rather focused on the plan for the organization and their important role as part of that plan. –Does not grandstand—and doesn’t enable grandstanding by others.
