4. The major organs of the excretory system are kidneys, bladder, ureter and urethra. Kidney: Filters waste from the blood. Bladder: Stores liquid waste. Ureter: Carries waste from the kidney to the bladder. Urethra: Carries urine from the bladder out of the body.

These substances can become poisonous (toxic) to the body if they reach high levels. The ultimate treatment for uremia is dialysis and it is not treatable by other medical means.
