3   born to her slave parents  She was a field slave for her teenager years  After a head injury from her slave owner, she was prone to narcoleptic seizures for the rest of her life  She married a fellow slave, John Tubman  She left Maryland and reached freedom  Because Harriet was free, she wanted to help others reach the same thing  In the 1850’s she began her impact on history… Early life

4   Was know as the conductor of the underground railroad  took nineteen trips  led 300 slaves to freedom  She used the home of Quaker abolitionist Thomas Garrett as a checkpoint  She angered southern slaveholders Harriet’s impact on history

5   During the Civil War Harriet served the Union Army  "Now do you suppose he wanted me to do this just for a day, or a week? No! the Lord who told me to take care of my people meant me to do it just so long as I live, and so I do what he told me to do.- Harriet said this when asked about her timeless efforts to promote equality  Harriet later married Nelson Davis  He died a few years later of tuberculosis  Harriet died in 1913 at age 91 Harriet’s impact.

6   Harriet Tubman was such an important part of history, because she was willing to risk her life for something she thought was important. She risked her life nineteen times for three- hundred people she didn’t even know. She was really the first person to successfully defy slaveholders for a long period of time. Harriet’s bravery inspired other people to fight for equal rights. Why she was so important
