www.uwplatt.edu OTTENSMAN HALL – Functional Issues Few changes in labs and equipment since building was constructed in 1966 (47 years ago) Mechanical and electrical systems are well past their design life. Current bay spacing will limit renovation as a science/lab building – Equipment – aisle spacing – work space Current floor-to-floor dimension is 13’-4” – tend to limit duct space for hoods, etc. – does not lend itself to reconfiguration Extremely dated laboratories (e.g. casework, equipment, furniture) Organic chemistry had fewer hoods than expected Source: Section 6: Facility Evaluation for Renovation and Reuse, University of Wisconsin — Platteville, Comprehensive Campus Master Plan 2011 - Supplemental Information, Page 6.3
