1 How do we define the personality traits of a hero? The character traits of a hero are defined as some one who shows a higher level of courage, bravery, strength and perseverance compared to an average human. 1. Courage- To overcome fear or danger with out fear by using mind or spirit. 2. Bravery- Able to conduct courage. 3. Strength- To be physically, mentally, or morally strong. 4. Perseverance- To be persistent in a particular action usually difficult.

2 How do the setting, conflicts, and antagonists influence the development of literary heroes? The setting, conflicts, and antagonists influence my hero by giving him a reason to become a hero. 1. The setting is important to my character in the way that it helps him to have a reason to become a hero. 2. Conflicts for my hero are very rare but still happen more towards the end. 3. In my characters case almost his entire society is antagonists.

3 How does a hero reflect his/her particular culture and society? In the beginning my hero was with his society and agreed with what they were doing, but towards the end he realizes that his society is wrong and he changes it. Beginning- my hero is with society, he listens to the laws like everyone else. He goes to work everyday and lives the same life that the rest of the society lives. 2. End- my hero starts to think about his society and the way it is run. He begins to dislike the society and decides that he needs to change it so he overcomes his government and his society to accomplish happiness.

4 How does a hero represent his/her time period and geographical area? My hero’s time period is set in the future but written in the past. My hero’s time period is set in the future but written in the past. 1. Future- hero Guy Montag starts out representing his time period in the same way that the rest of society does. He then realizes that what his society is doing is not right so he forms a plan to change his society with the help of a couple other people. 2. Past- the past is in the eyes of Ray Bradbury the writer of the book. Around this time period (1950’s) was the Holocaust. Hitler had the same concept in which he wanted to change society and he Bradbury made this society very similar to Hitler's society the only difference is that my character is the savior of this dystopian society.

5 How do various cultures reward or recognize their hero’s? In my hero’s society his reward is to overcome the rest of the people and the government in his society. Guy Montag has no reward that are handed to him he has the feeling of over coming a dystopian society to save what's left of mankind that agrees with this way of life that doesn't involve death/serious injury or severe depression. Another reward that he may have is the satisfaction of over coming his society and achieving what his goal was

6 What makes Guy Montag a hero even thou he breaks the law to accomplish his heroism? Guy Montag is a hero because his society is being controlled by the government so he has to break the law in order to fix society. My heroes society is controlled by the government which makes his task very difficult because the government has the whole society brain washed to think in the same way. Guy Montag must break the law to accomplish his goal because the government made most things against the law.

7 In what way does Guy Montag fight for his beliefs? Guy Montag fights for his beliefs in many different ways. He starts off small but takes more dramatics measures later on. Montag starts by taking books from houses that he burns down and hiding them in his own home. This is illegal in his society and at the time Guy had no intentions of taking the fight as far as he did. 2. Guy is now slightly open about his book reading. 3. Guy burns down his own house to prove a point to his society. 4. Guy kills his x-friend and boss Beatty. 5. Guy sets up a other x-friendly fire man so that his house is burned. 6. Guy dedicates the rest of his life to reading and copying books for the future.

8 Is Guy Montag a hero in other people’s minds? Why or Why not? Guy Montag is a hero in some peoples minds because they disagree with the dystopian society in the same way. Faber is one example of a person who thinks Guy is a hero because he disagrees with the society the same way that Guy does. 2. More people that may think he is a hero would be the new society that Guy decides to go and dedicate the rest of his life to reading books and recopying them for the future.

9 How does Guy Montag feel about society at first and how does he feel after? At first Guy is totally with society and the way the government runs society. He agrees with the people in the society. Guy agreed with society to a certain extent because he had a collection of books that we didn't find out till later in the book witch means that he had to have had them before it was mentioned. 2. More towards the end Guy started to not care if people knew and he was more open with it by talking to some of the people that came over to his house.

10 Why does Guys Montag’s decision change through out the book? Guys decision changes because he realizes that the society that he's in is not right. Guys decision changes because he realizes that the society that he's in is not right. 1. Guy started out collecting books and not telling anyone about is activities. So Guy was kind of a rebel before we even found out he was. 2. Later after he meets his inspiration ( a neighbor girl hat shows him the meaning of life) he decides that he is going to change his society because of the dystopia they live in.
