The Problem  Many high volume restaurants during peak periods can experience a significant increase of inaccurate orders due to the arrival of so many guests at one time and the rush that is placed on each server to efficiently handle each order. As a result of inaccurate orders,restaurants can lose customers, which is a loss in revenues and profits.

5. Objective  Develop a system that will allow customers to place their food order online and provide them with feedback as to the calorie and fat count of the meal, a generic image of the meal, a list of side dishes, main course ingredients, and cost information.

What To Do  provide a display that will allow the customer to choose menu items and make corrections.  update this display with changes to the order.  provide a running total cost and calorie/fat count.  At order finalization, we will request identification information from the customer.  offer a static map of our surrounding area so that customers unfamiliar with our location can find us. 3

Technological components needed to implement the project  Menu display that will allow the customer to browse, order, and update the menu items.  Database system that will keep track of the customer’s id, items in the menu, calorie count, and cost information.  Hardware components create a network of client/server computers and firewall protection.

Societal Feasibility  National Retail Merchants Association conducted a survey that stated 14% of the people who stop patronizing a business do so because they had a complaint about service.  Developing a dynamic online restaurant system where by complaints can be reduced by avoiding the problem of having inaccurate orders.
