2 Personal Pronouns ► Words that rename nouns…two key groups ► Nominative/Subjective  SingularPlurals  I-We  You-You  He, she, it-They ► Objective  Me-Us  You-You  Him, her, it-Them

3 Indefinite Pronouns ► Don’t rename a particular person, place, or thing ► These Pronouns are what their name is. ► Definite = exact ► In = Not Definite = exact ► Indefinite = Not Exact  Anyone, everyone, all, each  Most, few, some, many  Neither, either

4 Demonstrative Pronouns ► Used to rename or refer to noun  This  That  These  Those  Dem Pronoun: Please remove this.  Dem Adjective: Please remove this book. (Tells what book)

5 Interrogative ► Question Words  Whom?  Whose?  Who?  What?  Where?  When?  Which?  How?  Why?

6 Possessive Pronouns ► Pronouns that show ownership  Those, mine, ours, theirs  Yours, hers, his  Its vs. it’s – Which is a contraction for It is?

7 Reflexive Pronouns

8 Intensive Pronouns ► Also end in -self or –selves ► Used with a noun or another pronoun to INTENSIFY OR EMPHASIZE, the noun or pronoun ► Are not necessary to the meaning of the sentence ► Henry Ford himself drove a car he had built in Michigan.

9 No such thing as… ► Hisself ► Ourself ► Theirselves

10 Where and What… ► Where is the pronoun? ► What kind of pronoun is in the sentence? ► 4 Minute Fury

11 Label ► We went by ourselves to the store. ► Everyone wanted to go with us. ► I rode a bike; it was super-fun. ► It was old, and few people had ever seen one like it. ► I was glad it was mine, and all the other kids were jealous of me. ► Who is that they asked?

12 Group Challenge ► You are from Mars; you only speak Martian. ► A natural disaster has struck your planet. ► You need Earth’s help. ► Your group needs to transmit a message explaining what has happened and ask for specific help—decide what kind of help you will need. ► A scientist among you knows only pronouns in English…but he only knows 4 categories of pronouns. ► Your transmission is mostly in Martian, but you are to use pronouns to help explain your situation and needs. ► You must decide which 4 groups are needed.
