2. INTRODUCTION Saras Baug is a major landmark in City of
Pune in India. The place where the park
now stands was once occupied by a small
lake. The whole 25-acre (10 ha) complex
is known as Saras Baug. The Ganesh
temple in Saras Baug is also known as
Talyatla Ganpati.
The Construction of the Temple started in 1750 under the direction of the Sawai Madhavrao Peshwa and Mahadji Shinde of the Maratha confederacy. The temple construction completed in 1784 with the
idol of Hindu Lord Ganesh in the temple.

3. LOCATION
The Saras Baug is located within a mile of the Swargate which is a
ground transport station for Pune.
It is located 5.7 km from Pune Station.
Local buses and auto rikshaw are the two modes of public transport of
reaching there from pune station.

5. Planning The planning of Saras baug was almost symmetrical
with respect to the Siddhi
Vinayak temple situated in the
center of Saras Baug garden.

8. Hardscape Shades The main pathway was of 5m and was constructed
of stone and paving blocks. There was pond on one
side with water fountain.

9. Water Bodies… The temple is surrounded with pond
with beautiful fountains.
There is a fountain below the entrance.
There were fishes ,turtles and ducks in the pond,various birds all around the garden.

the garden.
There were solar lamposts on the pathways at
an average distance of 18 m.
There were dustbins along the pathways at an

Indian Date Palm trees along the main pathways at an average distance of 9-10 m
