4 What is a Peptic Ulcer? O An erosion in the mucosa of the GIT – can penetrate other tissue layers O Gastric Ulcer (5% lifetime risk, 90% lesser curvature) O Duodenal Ulcer (15% lifetime risk) O Other types of ulcers in GIT O Oesophageal ulcer O Stress ulcer
