Does President Lincoln walk again?! By: Emily

Abraham Lincoln was the 16 th president of the United States. He was assassinated in 1865. Some people say that they still see President Lincoln’s ghost today. He is said to have been seen in the White House at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington D.C. President Roosevelt and his wife, Eleanor, witnessed much activity during their stay at the White House. Eleanor is quoted with saying, “I believe he’s here.”

One day Lincoln was looking in the mirror and saw two of himself. One was healthy and one quite pale and ghostly. He told his wife of the images and tried to bring them back. He always saw them, but she could not. However, she believed her husband and also believed she knew the significance of the vision. The healthy face was her husband’s "real" face and indicated that he would serve his first term as president. The pale, ghostly image of the second face however was a sign that he would be elected to a second term.... but would not live to see its conclusion.”

“Some also claim to have seen his ghostly funeral train many years after it carried his body back to Springfield. There are two trains, according to some witnesses, seen on the anniversary of that journey. The first train pulls a line of black-draped cars, and the second pulls just one flatbed car on which is the slain president's casket.”

President Lincoln had came back as a ghost after he has died, and has been haunting many different places: White House Lincoln’s Funeral Train Fort Monroe, Virginia (battle site of the Civil War) Near his gravesite in Springfield, Illinois. People say he has not been sighted at the White House since the Truman administration because of renovations freeing his spirit from the house.

People are making up stories for entertainment, to have people talk about the sightings or to get famous. Also the people could just be seeing a light that people think looks like a figure of a man. Their eyes could be playing tricks on them.

I honestly think there is a chance he is still out there somewhere. The reason is I like to believe there is another side. I don’t think it’s just a light or people just saying things.
