1 Alzheimer Disease and Other Dementia Care Course Facilitator’s Orientation The Alzheimer Disease and Other Dementia Care Course (ADODCC ) is a coordinated provincial education program focusing on care provision for persons with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. This course is interactive, which enables participants to bring the material to life and make it practical for day-to-day care provision. The ADODCC course: Provides a holistic, person-centered philosophy to understanding dementia. Focuses on strategies to help with the activities of daily living;. Aids caregivers and care providers in their efforts to maintain a person's identity, dignity, and self- esteem. Is founded on the philosophy that quality care of persons with dementia involves an interdisciplinary team approach. Education makes a Difference The ADODCC Committee will be holding a Facilitator’s Orientation Session on Oct. 4, 2013 9:00 to 4:30. If you are an ADODCC Facilitator, you will be required to attend the one day session for your re-certification. The revised course, released January 2009, further emphasizes person-centered care and the importance of team approach. The new content focuses on: Working with families Mental illness and dementia Dementia and sexuality Oral health Falls prevention P.I.E.C.E.S. and U-First! Wheel A Collaborative Care Tool This is a scent free environment. There is a minimum of 15 participants required to run the workshop so please register before September 23, 2013 to determine whether the workshop will move forward.
