2 Descriptions Classification: Mammalia Shape: round and large Dimensions: long, can reach a length of about 3.9-4.9 ft. Height: 5-6 ft. Weight: adult male can weigh about 250 pounds. And a female can weigh about 220 pounds.

3 Habitat  They mostly live in Western China and Tibet  Their environment is the China Bamboo Forest, and in the mountains (South West China)

4 Diet  Fish, small animals like mice  But their main diet is berries and bamboo

5 Family Life  Giant Pandas usually have 1-2 offspring  The Gestation period is about 135 days  The offspring are normally born is the Spring  Panda babies depend on their mothers for the first few years of life

6 Social Behavior Social Behavior  Giant Pandas are by nature solitary animals, for most of the time avoiding contact with others of their own kind.  Pandas signify aggression by lowering their heads and staring at their pray.

8 History  The giant panda is believed to have made its first appearance during the late Pliocene or early Pleistocene, perhaps no more than two to three million years ago. Panda fossils have been found in present day Burma, Vietnam, and particularly early in eastern China, as far north as Beijing.

9 Present Status  Endangered  Live in south west China and western Tibet  About 183 pandas are in captivity

10 Relationship to Humans  Pandas compete with people for living space in their fragile habitat. Just like with other endangered and species, humans have played a major role in reducing the numbers of pandas in the wild.
