M ANGANESE Manganese is a chemical element, designated by the symbol Mn. It has the atomic number 25. It is found as a free element in nature (often in combination with iron), and in many minerals. As a free element, manganese is a metal with important industrial metal alloy uses, particularly in stainless steels.chemical elementatomic numberfree element

C OST O F M INING 3.99 dollars is the cost in pounds for manganese

M INE L IFE Lumwana is a truck and shovel operation executed in open pits. Trucks from the mine deliver ore either directly to the crusher feed hopper or into a 400 t capacity ROM dump hopper for further size reduction. The project area is not pristine due to the impacts from tree felling, charcoal burners, slash and burn agriculture and mineral exploration activities. The soils of the area are typical of those found in sub-tropical regions, being heavily leached, low in nutrients and of poor fertility.

C OAL

C OAL Coal is a combustible black or brownish-black sedimentary rock composed mostly of carbon and hydrocarbons. It is the most abundant fossil fuel produced in the United States.

C OST O F M INING Depending on the quality 38 cents to $1.08.Coal is about 45 cents a pound.

M INE L IFE Our innovative products have made major advancements in mining control and automation. We provide user-friendly systems, enabling higher operating efficiency and increased production. SMC designs, manufactures and commissions the electrical system from start to finish.

P HOSPHATE

C OST O F M INING The cost of phosphate is about 43.0

M INE L IFE A mechanism for mining phosphates nodules from the deep sea bottom including a number of dredge nets tied to a long endless rope suspended from both sides of a ship, the rope falling from one side of the ship to the deep sea-bottom with apparatus being provided to pull the rope there from to another side of the ship, whereby phosphates nodules are continuously collected by the dredge nets.
