2 MISSION/OBJECTIVE  Our objective is to educate future teachers the importance of healthy snacking, and ways to incorporate new ideas in the classroom.

5 GUIDELINES  a healthy snack choice should contain:  7 grams or less of fat  2 grams or less of saturated fat  0 grams of trans fat  15 grams or less of sugar  250 milligrams or less of sodium  No artificial sweeteners

14 SNACKS THAT HELP WITH LEARNING  Encourage Concentration  Provide Energy  Boost Brain Function  Examples  wheat crackers with peanut butter, string cheese, apple or orange slices or carrot and celery sticks because they are nutritious and promote concentration.  Yogurt with berries or almonds with a fresh apple.

16 INCORPORATING NUTRITION AND WELLNESS INTO ACADEMIC STANDARDS  The Wisconsin Model Academic Standards lists objectives for major subject areas and grade levels that students must meet in school. National Health standards must be incorporated to students.  All subjects can incorporate nutrition and wellness into academics.

17 HOW TEACHERS AND SCHOOL STAFF CAN PROMOTE A HEALTHY SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT  Being a + role model  Promote healthy lifestyles  Food choices in the classroom  Bring healthy snacks for yourself and encourage kids to do the same.
