The Dream
2
What the Title means… The Dream will be a short film about the support of poverty. This short film will be about the charity Age UK and how their work makes a big difference towards the less fortunate people in the world and the attitudes towards elderly in public.
3
Why we choose Care International? We choose care International because we believe ageism was a simple but complex idea to express with in a short 3-4 minute film. Also the main idea of our story was related to the topic of attitude to elderly in society.
4
Statistics Three-fifths of the world’s older people live in developing countries. 100 million older people live on less than one dollar (60 pence) a day. The United Nations estimates that by 2050, people aged 60 and over will outnumber people under 14 and 80% of these will be in the developing world.
5
What ageism means to us? Ageing is a global issue for the 21st century As they get older, many people, especially in the developing world, are left poor and isolated and do not have enough funds to sustain a decent life. Age UK aims to tackle these injustices wherever they occur.
6
Statement While increased life expectancy should be seen as a positive achievement, most of the world's older people live in very poor circumstances and face a harsh future.
7
What is age UK all about? We believe that age needs respect. It needs kindness. Sometimes it needs help. Because there is strength in numbers, Age Concern and Help the Aged have joined forces to become Age UK – so that we can be here for everyone in later life
8
Their Aim: Age UK aims to improve later life for everyone through our information and advice, services, campaigns, products, training and research.
9
Visions within Age UK… A world in which older people flourish is a world in which older people will: be equal citizens with equal rights have enough money for a secure and decent life, and have access as consumers to the products and services they need at a price they can afford have access to the healthcare and social care they need have the opportunity to live healthier longer lives and to enjoy a sense of well-being live in homes and neighbourhoods that are safe and comfortable and which enable them to lead fulfilling lives have opportunities to participate and contribute as volunteers, active citizens, good neighbours, family members, and workers enjoy the benefits of longer life, wherever they are in the world.
10
They Love their work…. Age UK is the only UK charity to focus research funds exclusively on later life. That's because we believe that we should all be able to enjoy good health in later life, free from the diseases and disabilities associated with growing older and the consequences that they can bring about, such as social isolation, anxiety, frailty and loss of independence.
11
Our Main Idea Preparing the Pitch…. Making a Short Film Message: Supporting the Charity… So our idea is to have an old person in need of help and not getting at the start. Then we’ll show the same scene but with the help of the charity how things change. This will allow the viewer to see the comparison of each lifestyle. At the end we’ll have a small appeal “If this is how you want to be treated when your older, act now, Thank you”
12
What we’re going to do. Our team are going to make a website displaying all of our work we did during the process of this project.
13
How we’re going to make a difference. Our groups intention is to make a short film supporting the charity “Age UK”. We’ve also been developing a website for this project.
14
Our Aim: Our aim is to help out this charity as much as possible. To what ever extent we reach in this project our main aim is to help out the charity. We will go to one of the local age UK charities and show them what we did. In a better case we will present our work to them also giving full authority of using our work on their website.

What a difference it makes... Sponsor a Grandparent For as little as 50p a day, you can help a grandparent who has no one else. You could buy food and clothing and support them. Sponsor a grandparent in one of many countries where Age International works. For as little as 50p a day, you can support someone who is feeding and caring for their grandchildren alone. It’s so much to cope with when you’re older. But through Age International, you can help raise a grandchild.
