Come and find our club at: St. Cenydd Leisure Centre St. Cenydd Road Trecenydd Caerphilly CF83 2RP Every Wednesday 17.00 – 18.00 We look forward to seeing you! 1 st session free! £3 per session (ages 5+) Sensei Ben is a qualified 2 nd Dan Karate Instructor with experience in supporting children and young adults with special educational needs, learning difficulties and disabilities. We are in the S.K.S. Association of South Wales, and we’re affiliated to the Welsh Karate Governing Body (W.K.G.B).

What We Do This Karate club offers people with and without special needs a place where they can learn and practice traditional Shotokan Karate. Our teachers combine extensive experience in traditional Karate and supporting special needs in order to provide a suitable environment for students of all ages and abilities. We teach self defence, discipline, respect and patience amongst other skills that help students in their daily lives. One of our goals is to continuously develop our students and prepare them for a ‘mainstream’ Karate class.

Why Karate? Karate works with individuals on motor, cognitive, sensory and social skills through the practice of karate. Life skills are why people should consider martial arts, because you receive and develop them throughout everything in karate. Focus, concentration, balance, tone, awareness, self-regulation, core strength, reduced anxiety, and spatial awareness are just a few of the benefits you will receive when you find the right hobby for you. Our club is especially for children and young adults with special needs, so they can safely experience mainstream Shotokan Karate.

Just one of our success stories Upon earning a green belt, students have the opportunity to join our mainstream club. Callum is one of the White Tiger Karate Club’s most dedicated special needs students. He has achieved a 1 st Dan black belt in the mainstream class. Since accomplishing this in November 2013, Callum has continued training regularly in mainstream classes, participated in two karate tournaments and has become one of our potential instructors.

Is Karate for You? All styles of martial arts are good; they all have something different to offer everybody. In our club, not only do our special needs students build confidence in training in a mainstream environment, but mainstream students benefit from learning to understand and become more sensitive to the needs of others.

Our classes currently run every Wednesday in St Cenydd Leisure Centre 5pm – 6pm. http://www.helenkaratecaerphilly.com/ this link will http://www.helenkaratecaerphilly.com/ take you to our mainstream club’s website.
