2 About Me I graduated from FCHS in 2008 I went to nursing school at PVCC I worked as a PCA in Oncology at UVA throughout nursing school I am now a RN in the Surgical Trauma Burn Intensive Care Unit at UVA I am in the RN to BSN program at JMU and will graduate in August 2015

6 Nursing Programs Associates Degree 2 Year Programs: PVCC, BRCC, JSRCC, ECPI RN to BSN Programs: UVA, JMU, VCU, GMU, ODU Traditional Bachelor Programs: UVA, VCU, JMU, GMU, ODU, EMU, Liberty, Radford, Longwood

7 Responsibilities Perform physical exams and health histories Provide health promotion, counseling and education Administer medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions Interpret patient information and make critical decisions about needed actions Coordinate care, in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals Direct and supervise care delivered by other healthcare personnel like LPNs and nurse aides Conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes

8 Get Involved! Become a Junior Volunteer at UVA! If you are a high school student between the ages of 14-18 you can be a junior volunteer Junior volunteers have the opportunity to volunteer in a variety of areas throughout UVA The junior volunteer program takes place in the summer It looks great on college applications It’s a great way to get your foot in the door at UVA Opportunity for the Dawson Scholarship!

9 Junior Volunteer Information JUNIOR VOLUNTEER INFORMATION SESSION – TUESDAY FEBUARY 3 rd, 2015 7-8pm at UVA The information session takes place in the dining conference rooms located on the first floor just past the guest services desk Volunteer Services – 434-924-5251 2015 JV Program Dates: Deadline for New Applicants - Friday, March 6th, 5:00 PM JV Group Interviews - March 30 - April 3 Final acceptance letters mailed - Friday, April 10 Mandatory JV Orientation - Monday, June 15 Summer Program (8 weeks) - June 15 - August 7
