Committee D02 Petroleum Products and Lubricants  Largest ASTM Committee, organized in 1904  Includes over 2,200 members from more than 60 countries  Developer of over 750 petroleum standards that have helped to provide heat for homes, fuel for automobiles and airplanes, and lubricants for machinery  Sponsor of numerous technical publications, laboratory quality assurance programs and technical and professional training courses, workshops, and symposia.

Committee D02 Facts  ASTM-API-EI Petroleum Measurement Tables (D1250) – joint effort  Comprise American, British and Metric Dimensional Systems  D02 works closely with TC28  Many D02 sections serve also as Technical Advisory Groups to the US TAG for ISO/TC28  There are currently 18-20 MOU Countries using ASTM D02 standards as the basis of their respective national standards.

Biodiesel Committee D02.E  As defined in D6751, biodiesel is a “fuel comprised of monoalkyl esters of long chain fatty acids derived from vegetable or animal fats, designated B100”  Russian Sunflower oil exports at a record high due to biodiesel production, high growth expected  D02.E on Biodiesel – over 530 members from 22 countries (Russia and Ukraine)  Members are refiners, biodiesel producers, independent test labs, government and equipment vendors  D6751 used as basis for national standard in 20+ countries including India, UK and Malaysia

Bioethanol Committee D02.A  According to the Scientific Journal of Riga Technical University 100% of Bioethanol developed in Russia is being exported  Over 410 members from 25 countries  Members are refiners, ethanol producers, test labs, government and equipment vendors  D4806-09 – Standard for Denatured Fuel Ethanol is used globally by legal reference or as a the basis of a national standard by over 25 countries including Vietnam, China, Netherlands and Canada
