Going Green By: Michael Raletz

Green is the New Black!  One of the most important topics of the 21 st century  A growing industry opening up new job markets  Saving the planet

Recycling Solar Energy Hybrid/Electric Cars

Why should I go green?  Save the O-zone  Reduce waste making the environment look nicer  Save money

The Big Picture  The result in taking part of one, if not all ways of going green, is saving the environment  Each little step goes a long way  The o-zone is being destroyed everyday, it’s our job to reduce that waste and save the environment.

Recycling  Most common form of going green  Used everyday by most, and one of the easiest forms of saving the environment  More and more recycling programs are being set up world wide  Each becoming more specific in proper disposal (Paper/waste/plastic/etc…)

Recycling Facts  For every1 ton of plastic that is recycled we save the equivalent of 2 people’s energy use for 1 year and almost 2000 pounds of oil.  Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to run a TV for three hours, or the equivalent of half a gallon of gasoline.  If everyone read just their Sunday paper online for now on and there was no paper versions, 500,000 trees would be saved per week.

Hybrid/Electric Cars  Popular way of doing your part while saving money on rasing gas prices!  New look on hybrid cars increases in sales Before After

Hybrid/Electric Cars  By 2013, Every major car company will have an electric car on the road  Major cities and major corporations such as Wal-Mart have started rolling out nationwide electric car charging stations

Solar Energy  Solar energy is one of the most pure forms of going green.  No pollution comes from solar energy

Cost ?  One of the main reason for lack of switching to solar power is the initial money up front  In the last 4 years however, solar panels have reduced in price by 45%

Villari’s Solar Power Field  Restaurant/Bar/Out side Tiki Deck/Banquet Hall  1,275 panel solar field  Fully completed in late October 2011

Before Solar Field  Ran on normal Grid Electricity  Cost $60,000 per year in electricity.

Since Solar Field Was Installed  Started running at slight power on July 15 th  Fully Functional in Late October  $22,000 have been saved  161,766.18 pounds of CO 2 gas has been avoided.

Boring electrical knowledge  Each panel produces 235 watts of power  1,275 panels x 235 watts = 299,625 watts of power in entire field Any excess solar power not used, can be sold back to the township

What happens on a rainy day?  What happens if there is no sun out?  The Ginger Effect!  Restaurant also works off a gridlock which allows to pull energy from the grid when needed.

Rise in Jobs Opportunities  With all this new technology and developments  New jobs are being created in all of these areas for innovators and more to better improve the functionality of such hybrid and electric cars  Smart Growing Industry

In Conclusion… Some important ways to save our environment and go green is  Recycling  Switching to hybrid or electric cars  And making the switch to solar energy
