1 Riordan Manufacturing
Welcome to Riordan Manufacturing Process Evaluation! CIS 205 Management Information Systems, Team X NAMES PROCESS EVALUATION RIORDAN MANUFACTURING NAMES CIS 205 Management Information Systems Team X

2 SCOPE Improving Riordan Inventory and Manufacturing Business Processes for the following plants: Albany, Georgia: Plastic Beverage Containers Pontiac, Michigan: Custom Plastic Parts Development Hangzhou, China: Plastic Fan Parts Production Scope: This presentation will elaborate on the Businesses Process Evaluation for Riordan Manufacturing (SR-rm-001). You all have received a copy of the Executive Summary. Please reference this summary as the presentation continues. The scope of this project includes improving the business processes for the Albany, Georgia plant, the Pontiac, Michigan Plant, and also the upcoming Hangzhou, China plant.

3 Business Processes Recommended Business Processes to Improve:
Raw Materials Receiving Manufacturing with Inventory Final Product Shipping Team B, Consulting has determined that the Raw Materials Receiving, Manufacturing with Inventory, and Final Product Shipping for all of the before mentioned plants could stand to be substantially improved.

4 Raw Materials Receiving
Current Processes Done Manually: Shipping Documents Order Receiving Reports Inventory and Materials Reports Daily Reporting to Management Inventory Tracking Raw Materials Receiving: Currently, most of the processes being performed at all of the plants require a significant amount of manual entry. This manual entry is extremely inefficient and causes errors, miscommunication, and most importantly, affects the bottom line. Automating many of these processes will ensure accuracy and security for each of the current plants as well as any upcoming plants.

5 Raw Materials Receiving
Proposed Improvements: Here is a flowchart for the proposed improvements to the Raw Materials Receiving processes. As you can see, using these updated and technologically advanced methods will provide a seamless flow of materials from when the materials arrive here at Riordan Manufacturing to when they are sent to the manufacturing plants or storage yards.

6 Manufacturing with Inventory
Current Processes Done Manually: Raw Material Usage and Accounting Data Entry Sub-assemblies and Finished Product Reports Manufacturing with Inventory: The Manufacturing with Inventory processes are also in a state of manual entry. Anytime data has to be entered manually, there is always a likely chance that the data will be entered incorrectly. This leads to inaccurate inventory counts, false accounting reports, and a leaves the door wide open for potential theft.

7 Manufacturing with Inventory
Proposed Improvements: Our proposed improvements to the Manufacturing with Inventory processes will eliminate most of the manual data entry and provide a high level of accuracy. Please review the proposed improvements shown in the flow chart.

8 Final Product Shipping
Current Processes Done Manually: Sales and Billing Pulling and Loading of Materials Delivery Truck Tracking Inventory System Updates Sales orders Final Product Shipping: Once again, the Final Product shipping processes at each the Riordan plants is done primary with manual entry. Sales and Billing, the pulling and loading of materials, delivery truck tracking, inventory updates, and sales orders are all entered and tracked manually. As you may know, this can lead to many problems, such as the wrong materials on the trucks, incorrect billing information, incorrect sales orders, and most importantly, unsatisfied customers.

9 Final Product Shipping
Proposed Improvements: This flowchart demonstrates the proposed improvements in the Final Product Shipping Processes. Once implemented this process will run extremely smooth and as the smiley face indicates, extremely happy customers!

10 Business Requirements
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Proposed Usage for RFID Technology: Asset Tracking Manufacturing Supply Chain Management Retailing Payment Systems Security and Access Control Business Requirements: The addition of Radio Frequency Identification or RFID is a necessary step in the secure tracking and monitoring of each and every piece of material. RFID technology is proposed to be used for all of the listed processes.

11 Business Requirements
Proposed RFID Addition: This graphic shows the proposed RFID network and will include the installation of IBM Blade Center servers and VMW operating system software. This RFID system will improve customer relations and decrease the loss or misplacement of materials.

12 Conclusion Team B, Consulting, is dedicated to providing Riordan Manufacturing with the most up to date and advanced technology available while maintaining any and all budget constraints. This Executive Summary shows the best and most cost effective means of improving all the processes in all of the Riordan Manufacturing plants. Automating most of Riordan’s processes will benefit the employees, the customers, and the bottom line. Using RFID technology will enhance the inventory and manufacturing systems at all of Riordan’s plants. Conclusion: In conclusion, Team B, Consulting, will provide Riordan Manufacturing with the most up to date and advanced technology available. We have showed that eliminating most of the manual data entry will not only improve efficiency but also increase customer satisfaction. We would also like to reinforce the valuable use of RFID technology and ensure that this process will increase the overall market power of Riordan Manufacturing.
