Edglossary.org Programs of study specializing in various skilled-trades, applied sciences, and modern technology Formerly referred to as vocational education Perkins 2006 A sequence of academic and technical courses needed to prepare for further education and careers in current or emerging professions A sequence of courses that provide technical skill proficiency, industry- recognized credential, certificate, or associates degree Competency-based applied learning, higher-order reasoning and problem- solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, and occupation-specific skills 2
