3.  He changed his name from Malcolm Little to Malcolm X because he was against slavery  He is a black nationalist spokesman for the Nation of Islam  Civil Rights Activist Who is Malcolm X?

What did he do?  He stood up for the African-Americans Civil Rights  He offered an alternative view to the mainstream civil rights movement: establishment of separate black community (rather than integration), and the use of violence in self defense (rather than non-violence)  Malcolm X’s speech “The Bullet or The Ballot” is about how blacks should fight for their civil rights
