1 Great Britain My favourite country is Great Britain, which capital is London. And my project is about this wonderful city.

2 LONDON is the capital of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It is one of the biggest and wonderful cities in the world.

3 Bloomsbury Square is one of the oldest in London. It is the literary part of the British capital. Many writers and critics live there.

5 The British museum The British museum is one of biggest museums in the world! It was founded in 1753 by Hans Sloan. Today British museum is the main museum of the capital. About 4 million visitors comes to the museum every year. The British museum has a large Reading Room.

7 The Royal Opera House The Royal Opera House or Covent Garden is one of the famous London theatres. It is situated in the centre of the former fruit and vegetable market.

9 T he «ODEON» is one of the famous cinemas in London. It was designed by architects Harry Weedon and Andrew Mather. The first film was shown in November 1937.

11 St. Paul’s Cathedral S t. Paul’s Cathedral is one of the greatest English churches. It was built in the 17 th century by famous English architect Sir Christopher Wren. It took him 35 years. It is a beautiful building with many columns and towers.

13 Whitehall is one of the best- known streets in London. It is situated in the West End of London.

14 The Houses of Parliament T he Gothic building that you see today was built between 1840 and 1888, this was the work of Charles Barry who designed the buildings nearby Westminster Abbey.

16 Big Ben T he large clock of one of the towers is Big Ben. It is the name of the clock and the bell in the clock tower of the Houses of Parliament. The clock and the bell got their names after Sir Benjamin Hall.

18 The Tower of London. The Tower of London was built by William the Conqueror in the 11 th century. There are always black ravens in the Tower of London. People look after them very well as they believe that London will be rich while ravens live there.
