4 In the 20 th century the car was a toy for the rich. Most cars were really confusing because of all the handles and knobs and it also required a chauffer (a person who drives people around) to drive it. Henry Ford wanted to make a more affordable, simpler model so normal people could use it on a daily basis.

5 Henry Ford’s car was known as the Model T. The Model T. Made it’s debut in 1908 with a price of $825.00.Over 10,000 were sold in it’s first year making a new record. Four years later the price dropped to $575.o0 and sales soared. By 1914 Ford claimed at least 48% of the car market. Before machines made cars each car had to be assembled individually by a team of craftsmen.

6 Henry Ford didn’t invent the car like everyone thinks,a man called Karl Benz did in 1886. A famous Henry Ford quote ’’ You can have any colour car you want as long as its black’’. It took Ford 3 tries to develop the Model T. Ford completed his first car at 2am on June 6 th 1896 but the car was too big for the door frame and it took an hour to knock the bricks to make a hole wide enough for the car to fit through. (P.S. Racing car picture is not the Model T.)
