2 Objectives Understand the expectations for use of WD and Government of Canada identifiers. Learn the protocol for inviting the Minister to events or getting a Letter of Greeting from the Minister’s Office. Discussion on success story requests. Know more about WD’s Twitter & LinkedIn accounts and how WCBSN members can use them. Focus on increased formal and informal interaction with WD’s regional communications units. 2

6 Approval to Use Identifiers Prior approval must be received from WD’s Communications Branch for any products using federal government identifiers. Materials that communicate or promote projects or initiatives undertaken by signatories to partnership agreements, grants and contribution recipients, or partners in the Western Canada Business Service Network (WCBSN) must acknowledge the support of Western Economic Diversification Canada. 6

7 Approval Requirements These materials may include: Advertising (print, TV, radio, Web) Feature articles News releases Public displays Reports and publications (newsletters, promotional brochures) Signage Websites 7

8 Contribution Agreement Communications Protocol Requirements Milestone events require 28 days advance notice to regional communications contact Implement communications activities such as feature stories, social media applications and/or events Bilingual signage Website visibility to include reference to contribution; the Western Economic Diversification Canada and the Government of Canada wordmark in accordance with the visibility guidelines provided by WD Hyperlink to the WD website 8

10 Success Stories - CF Annual Performance Report Client Name *Service Provided (loan, bus. services, comm. planning & implementation) Description should include:  Did it align with GOC/WD Priorities?  What role did the CF play?  Describe how this project/loan/service/initiative made a difference in the client’s organization and/or community?  What were the final outcomes* from the activity?  How has this positively affected your community?  How has this service enhanced the economy in your community? (6-8 sentences) 10
