The 10% solution

From: Listen for your preacher to use a word beginning with 'A‘ then 'B and so on through the alphabet. Start from the back of the church and try to crawl all the way to the front, under the chairs, without being noticed. By unobtrusively drawing your arms up into your sleeves, turn your shirt around backwards. If, in the Lord's sight, a day is as a thousand years and a thousand years is as a day, how many years would this sermon be consuming if it were a thousand year day? 4 In THE OLD TESTAMENT, tithing was a requirement of the law Leviticus 27:30-32 A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD. 31 If a man redeems any of his tithe, he must add a fifth of the value to it. 32 The entire tithe of the herd and flock--every tenth animal that passes under the shepherd's rod--will be holy to the LORD.

In THE OLD TESTAMENT, tithing was a requirement of the law Numbers 18:21-29 Deuteronomy 12, 14:22-29; 26:12-19 The PURPOSE of the tithe: To provide for the Levites, priests, temple For ceremonial celebration For benevolence to the Poor

In THE NEW TESTAMENT we are encouraged to give II Corinthians 9:5-12 5 So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to visit you in advance and finish the arrangements for the generous gift you had promised. Then it will be ready as a generous gift, not as one grudgingly given. 6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.GIVE:GenerouslyWillinglyCheerfully

In THE NEW TESTAMENT, Jesus didn’t repeal the principle of giving a tithe Luke 11:42 "Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God. You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone.
