5. Types of patients Voluntary patients: Patients who volunteer to be in the mental health hospital for self harm, eating disorders or other problems. Involuntary patients: Patients that have to go without a choice. They normally require immediate treatment. Many patients are normal people just with a strained relationship or have a substance problem. Patients family should show support to help them with their problems.
