Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. A.W. Tozer: “Faith is seeing the invisible, but not the non-existent”

We live by faith, not by sight. -II Corinthians 5:7

Biblical Faith is NOT: A blind leap in the dark

D.L. Moody: “I prayed for faith and thought that someday it would come down and strike me like lightning. But faith didn’t seem to come. One day I read in Romans that “faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” I had, up to this time, closed my Bible and prayed for faith. Now I opened my Bible and began to study --- and faith has been growing ever since.”

Biblical Faith is NOT: A blind leap in the dark The ability to manipulate God

Biblical faith does not believe that God will do what WE say. Biblical Faith knows that God will do what HE says.

Biblical Faith is NOT: A blind leap in the dark The ability to manipulate God Adherence to a list of doctrines

What Biblical Faith Does: Worship (Abel)

4 By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain’s. Through this he received approval as righteous, God himself giving approval to his gifts; he died, but through his faith he still speaks. -Hebrews 11:4

What Biblical Faith Does: Worship (Abel) Walks (Enoch)

5 By faith Enoch was taken so that he did not experience death; and “he was not found, because God had taken him.” For it was attested before he was taken away that “he had pleased God.” - Hebrews 11:5

What Biblical Faith Does: Worship (Abel) Walks (Enoch) Works (Noah)

7 By faith Noah, warned by God about events as yet unseen, respected the warning and built an ark to save his household; by this he condemned the world and became an heir to the righteousness that is in accordance with faith. - Hebrews 11:7

Faith does not operate in the realm of the possible. There is no glory for God in that which is humanly possible. Faith begins where man's power ends. - George Muller.

What Biblical Faith Does: Worship (Abel) Walks (Enoch) Works (Noah) Waits (Abraham)

9By faith he made his home in the Promised Land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. 10For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God. - Hebrews 11:9-10

Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. - Hebrews 11:6
