2. The note my father read. “This is good food mom, “said Ender. “Good, I got it at”… but before my mom named Leah finished someone was knocking on the door. Thump! Thump! Thump! “I’ll get it”, Said Ender’s father, named John. When he came back he had a note with him. Ender’s father read the note aloud. It read: “Dear John, We need help! The British have started a new war, and we don’t have enough men. We need more! Please help us. George Washington”. “Please don’t go dad”, said Ender!

3. The barn “Huh”, sighed dad.” Let me think about it Ender,” dad said. So dad went to his room. The next morning John was up and dressed early in the morning. “Why are you already dressed and ready to go”, said Ender? ” Listen Ender”. ” Wait your not going are you”? “Ender”. ” No you can’t go”, said Ender! Ender ran, shoved the front door open and ran to the barn. “Ender! Ender wait”, shouted John! But Ender had already disappeared into the barn. The barn was dark and cold. Ender climbed up on a ledge and found a candle and some matches. So he lit the candle and tried to get warm. John came walking to the barn. There was just enough light from the candle that john could see Ender. “Ender please come down from there, said John. But Ender didn’t come down he was to mad at his father. Then he heard horse feet going clip, clop, clip, clop on the cobblestone road. Then he heard his dads feet crunching through the dead grass. Then they stopped, John said, “I'll miss you”. And was gone.

4. The door in the cupboard. When Ender came back to his house his mother was crying on the table. Ender went over hugged his mom and started to cry to. Ender’s father was gone a long time and never wrote. Ender would sometimes lay in his bed and cry until his mother came in. One day Ender was lying in his bed and heard a gunshot, boom! Ender shot straight up! He ran straight into the living room. “ Mom, mom”, called Ender. “ Yes, what is it”, Said Leah? “Did you hear that”, Said Ender? “Hear what”, Said Leah? “The gunshot”, said Ender. “What”, Shouted Leah?! “Yeah there was a gunshot”, said Ender. Ender knew he could recognize a gunshot anywhere. His dad taught him how to shoot. He would teach him every Saturday. “Ender come here now”, said his mom! “Coming”, said Ender. When Ender got to his mom she was throwing pots and pans out of a cupboard until they were all out. Then at the back of the cupboard there was a little door with a lock on it. Ender’s mom scrambled for the key. Then she ran over to the lock and unlocked it. “Go now, said Ender’s mom!

5. The cellar we had to stay in. Ender was soon crawling through a dark tunnel. It had cobwebs everywhere and looked like it had been dug in. “Mom”. Said Ender. “Yeah”. Said Leah. “Who dug this tunnel”? Said Ender. “Me and your father did when we were kids like you”. Said Leah. ”When are we coming out’? Said Ender. “We’re not”. “What”! Shouted Ender. “Shhh be quite”. Said Leah. “There’s a cellar at the end of the tunnel with everything we need”. Said Leah. “Ok we’re almost there”. Said Leah. “I see it mom”. Said Ender. “Yep, that’s it alright”. Said Leah. “Wow, this is big”. Said Ender. “And it does have everything we need”. Said Ender There was water and food and hay that we could sleep on and stuff I could play with. We stayed in the cellar for a long time. We also heard a lot of gunshots the past few days. One day we heard footsteps coming our way. “Ender get back in the tunnel now”! Said Leah. I hurried into the tunnel. We waited for a little while and when we thought the cost was clear we went back into the cellar.

6. At night I was awoken by a loud, CRACK! I immediately started to wake up my mom. “Mom, mom, mom wake up”, Shouted Ender! Leah was groaning. “What, what”, said Leah. “Did you hear that”, said Ender? “Hear what”, said mom? “The gunshot”. Said Ender. CRACK! “There’s another one”. Said Ender. CRACK, CRACK, CRACK. Soon enough there was a starting. Muskets CRACKED, cannons BOOMED bayonets went here and there slashing and clashing. People were falling everywhere, you could hear screams and battle cries from them all. Then I saw a face I could recognize anywhere my father. I couldn’t believe it my father was in this terrible war I never would have let him go if I knew he was going to be in a war like this. My dad was firing a musket like crazy and shoving his bayonet at anyone who got close enough. I couldn’t believe it one day my dad is a loving caring guy and now he’s shooting and shoving a sharp blade at people. CRACK! AHHH! My dad suddenly fell to the ground. “DAD”, I shouted! My dad just got shot I couldn’t believe it, thankfully it was only his leg but he was still in danger. And so was I. They heard me yell and they were coming strait for us! “Ender into the tunnel now", said mom. “No, what about dad”! “Dad”! “Dad”! “Dad get up please we need you I need you. Suddenly, CRACK! One of the men fell down. When the smoke went away my dad had his musket pointed at the men that were coming at us. CRACK! Another shot. Soon all of the men were down. My dad just saved me with his musket I didn’t think he had enough strength. I was so surprised and happy that I almost forgot that my father had got shot. Then when I had remembered I called for help. “Help, help”, I called. When somebody finally came I told them about what had happened to my father. After I tolled them about my father I showed them were he was. They immediately went over to him and bandaged his leg. After they bandaged his leg they took him into the hospital. He stayed there for the night. And they told us to sleep in our house tonight and we could see my father in the morning. So we went to our house and got on our pajamas, brushed our teeth and went to bed. I woke up early in the morning to go see my father. When my mother woke up I was already dressed and ready to go. Once my mother was ready to go we had breakfast. I didn’t eat much I was to exited. After my mother was finished eating we left. When we got there my father was already waiting for us at the interence when I saw my father I immediately started to run to him it was the best day of my life my father was still alive. And after he recovered we would get to go home.

7. “Hi my name is Matthew and I am the author. I chose this historical era because I recently went to Williamsburg and really enjoyed it. I really enjoyed all of the interesting events that happened and I didn’t get to put all of them in my story but that’s ok. And that’s why I chose this historical era”.
