2 Commotion (noun) Synonym: Tumult Antonym: Peace Definition: Noisy activity Sentence: The commotion in New York during New Year was incredible; I will have to get my ears checked.

3 Concoction (noun) Synonym: Mixture Antonym: Separation Definition: A mixture of ingredients; putting several things together. Sentence: After the cook mixed together all the recipes, it created a marvelous concoction.

4 Conspicuous (adjective)
Synonym: Noticeable Antonym: Hidden Definition: Easily seen; something obvious; attract attention. Sentence: Night-time joggers should wear conspicuous clothing, so they are noticed by cars.

5 Contortion (noun) Synonym: Twist Antonym: Straight Definition: A sharp twist or bend in, or of, something or someone. Sentence: The man had a serious contortion on his leg, and he needed a wheelchair to get around.

6 Imperious (adjective)
Synonym: Vain Antonym: Fawning Definition: Arrogant; thinking you are above it all. Sentence: The imperious man is very egotistical and thinks that the world revolves around him.

7 Jabber (verb) Synonym: Babble Antonym: Be silent Definition: To talk rapidly making no sense; chattering. Sentence: The annoying girl would always be jabbering and will never shut her mouth.

8 Jargon (noun) Synonym: Dialect Antonym: Standard Definition: Specialized language of a profession or group. Sentence: The jargon of the aliens was so confusing, I couldn’t understand a thing they uttered.

9 Jostle (verb) Synonym: Bump Antonym: Separate Definition: To roughly bump into a person or thing. Sentence: He jostled into his friend purposefully after being insulted.

10 Scurry (verb) Synonym: Scamper Antonym: Walk Definition: To move briskly; to scamper. Sentence: The boy scampered to the class to avoid being tardy.

11 Serenity (noun) Synonym: Calmness Antonym: Agitation Definition: The quality of being calm, peaceful or untroubled. Sentence: The serenity of the man after the storm made me feel better in the havoc created by the tsunami.

12 Sociable (adjective) Synonym: Talkative Antonym: Reclusive Definition: Enjoying the company of others. Sentence: The sociable group would cooperate with each other and talk a lot; they’re NOT reclusive!

13 Somber (adjective) Synonym: Depressing Antonym: Jolly Definition: Very serious or sad. Sentence: Everyone was somber after mourning about 9/11.

16 Narcissism (noun) Synonym: Egocentrism Antonym: Fawning Definition: egoism, egocentrism (self-centered). Sentence: Narcissism is annoying, and egotistical people should get a glimpse at real life.

17 Amethyst (noun) Synonym: Violet Quartz Definition: A clear purple or bluish violet variety of crystallized quartz. Sentence: The beautiful amethyst is only found deep under the surface, and is a bright violet color.

18 Somnambulate (verb) Synonym: Sleepwalk Antonym: Sleep Definition: To walk while sleeping. Sentence: The old man somnambulated across the room and went on a walk while sleeping.

19 Venerate (verb) Synonym: Honor Antonym: Dishonor Definition: To honor with a ritual act of devotion . Sentence: Every day, the family venerated their god by practicing their religion.
