MICROCHIP IMPLANT NEGATIVE SIDES OF RADIO FREQUENCY IDENTIFICATION CHIPS
DESIGN Could the malfunctioning of the device harm the chipped person? Since RFID systems make use of the electromagnetic spectrum, they are relatively easy to jam using energy at the right frequency. Reader collision occurs when the signals from two or more readers overlap. Tag collision occurs when many tags are present in a small area
MEDICAL AND HEALTH May cause cancerous tumors Electrical hazards Adverse tissue reaction Migration of implanted devices Patient burns
SECURITY AND PRIVACY There will be an ability to track and observe, who, what and where and when. May lead to a totalitarian control of the population Venue for exploitation, crime, corruption and other forms of illegal transactions due to information stealing Unencrypted chips are extremely vulnerable to being read by third party scanners Information stored are not assured to be properly protected – they can be cloned as proven by Jonathan Westhues.
SOCIAL COSTS Who owns the microchip and the data stored in it? No standard as to where the chip should be placed in the body Unemployment Limited Freedom Is’t ethically right to coerced someone to be implanted with microchip?
