Submersible Seal Top Down DP Level Assembly

DP Level Solution for Top-Down Level Measurement Applications Challenge: Many tanks go un-instrumented in the field due to a variety of factors, including: – Remote location without access to power – Tanks with only small top-down process connections only Solution: Submersible Seal – Designed using reliable DP Level seal technology – Self-powered wireless capability allows easy installation in remote locations

Submersible Seal Assembly Enables Simple Top-down Level Measurements Consists of an In-line gage pressure transmitter with submersed capillary and seal Can be combined with any Rosemount pressure transmitter for additional capabilities – 3051S_T, 3051T, 2051T, & 2088T – Wireless, diagnostics, & all other transmitter functionality Intended for open & vented applications only Temperature effects are reduced because the seal is submersed in process fluid – Temperature changes affect the volume of both process and seal fill fluid simultaneously

Submersible Seal Design Specifications Transmitter options In-line transmitter All transmitters tiers available (3051S, 3051, 2051, and 2088) Wireless capability Capillary options PVC coated or standard SST Maximum cable length of 30ft (9.1m) New bellows seal SST material available Tank Connection Styles 1½ in. NPT Male Threaded 2 or 3 in Flanges (DN50, 80)

Bellows Design Replaces Traditional Flat Diaphragm Submersible Seal uses compressed bellows design Large displacement capability of the bellows is best at absorbing pressures and transmitting the pressure to the transmitter Fill fluid Seal body Bellows Outer tube Process fluid Bellow seal without outer tubeBellow seal cutaway

Differences Between Traditionally Mounted Level Transmitters and Submersible Seal Traditional Level Transmitter Assembly Vented and pressurized tanks Capillary outside of tank Mounted to side or bottom of tanks Diaphragm wetted material Coplanar and inline configuration DP, AP and GP available Submersible Seal Assembly Vented tanks ONLY Intended to be top-mounted Bellows and capillary wetted materials In-Line configuration GP ONLY

Installing the Submersible Seal Submersible seal connects to any flanged or threaded connection – Standard connection is 1.5in NPT male threads or 2 & 3 in. (DN50, DN80) flanges Threaded ConnectionFlanged Connection 1.5in NPT Male thread 2 or 3in (DN50, 80) Flanged connection Length includes: Capillary & additional seal length

Commission and Range Similarly to Traditional Level Transmitters Level (L) = Pressure Specific Gravity Bottom- mounted Level Transmitter L Pressure atm Specific Gravity Process Commission and range same as traditional DP Level system – 4mA equals pressure when process fluid is at minimum height – 20mA equals pressure when process fluid is at maximum height Level (L) = SG process X Height process – SG fill fluid X Height capillary Vented Tanks L Pressure atm Specific Gravity Process Top-mounted Level Transmitter

Submersible Seal Self Compensates for Changes in Temperature As ambient temperature changes, both the fill fluid and process fluid change volume at similar rates – Process fluid and fill fluid have unique specific gravities, but will see the same ambient temperature – As temperature increases, both the fill fluid and process fluid expand – As temperature decrease, both the fill fluid and process fluid contract Results in minimized temperature effects for improved performance Submersible Seal Transmitter

How to Order the Submersible Seal Base Model Connection Type Seal Fill Fluid Silicone 200 Glycerin & Water Capillary ID & Description SST PVC Coated SST Length Up to 30ft. (9.1m) Industry Standard ASME / ANSI EN 1092-1 JIS B2238 Seal Type TSM FSM Process Connection & Pressure Rating 1½, 2, 3in DN 40-100 Material Upper Housing & Flange: 316 SST Bellows: 321 SST Optional Screen

Submersible Seal Optional Screen Submersible Seal with optional Screen Insert Submersible Seal without Screen Insert

Submersible Seal (TSM & FSM) is specific for small process connections For large process connection (over 3in. & DN80) or open water measurements (ponds & reservoirs) specify the RTW Seal – RTW will provide better performance Less fill fluid and a more sensitive diaphragm – Lower housing protects diaphragm from sediment and other objects – Transmitter mounting bracket is necessary to mount seal system Specify the RTW Seal for Large Tank Connections and Pond Level Measurements RTW Seal with lower housing Lower Housing Diaphragm Capillary Open top or pond application RTW Seal Mounting bracket on 2” pipe

Submersible Seal Summary: New diaphragm uses proven DP Level seal technology Submersible Seal specifically designed for top-down measurements in tanks with small connections – 1.5in. NPT male threads or 2 & 3 in. flanges – Capillary up to 30ft (9.1m) with SST or PVC coated armor – All wetted materials are SST Temperature effects are reduced because the seal is submersed in process fluid – Temperature changes affect the volume of both process and seal fill fluid simultaneously Available to order, please contact your Rosemount representative for purchase requests
