1 Prineville Police Department Volunteers in Policing Program

2 Why VIP’s? Reason One: Citizen Volunteer Programs are fundamental in Community Policing Programs and PPD is committed to Community Policing (more on Community Policing later) Citizen Volunteers give LE a perspective we sometimes lose Citizens often have passions about things most cops don’t think about (blight etc)

3 Why VIP’s? Reason Two: We need you……a lot As the world gets more complex, we need to figure out how to serve the community better Not faster Not stricter But better

4 Why VIP’s? Citizen Volunteers free up officer and staff time so we can focus on things that matter to “Joe and Jane” on the street –Small things can add up to big misery Citizen Volunteers allow us to keep a personal touch with our community Citizen Volunteers often have skills, interests and aptitudes not normally associated with LE (which is a blue collar profession, believe me)
