2 PRINCIPLE #1:“DON’T MAKE ME THINK” The web page should allow the users to get to his/her destination very quickly Make the web page self-explanatory, self evident Make clickable links obvious to the user

3 PRINCIPLE 2: KNOW THE MIND OF THE USERS! How is a web page considered to be a good web page for the user?  Easy to use  Self evident/self explanatory  Short and concise  Sense of confident ( content matches the link the user clicked on)

4 PRINCIPLE 2: KNOW THE MIND OF THE USERS (CONT.) Why user come to your website?  “ I’m here to get service/products/information from your website.”  “ I only care about what I want, and I need it fast.” How user view/use your web page?  User usually scan through your web page, instead of fully reading it.  Looking for keywords from your web page.  Looking for content that interested them.

5 PRINCIPLE 2:KNOW THE MIND OF THE USERS (CONT.) Little facts: Once a user get used to your website. He will stick with it. The premise is that the user have to be able to use your website on his/her first use. Therefore, and user friendly website is necessary to increase your webpage’s influence, and the rate of spreading.

6 PRINCIPLE 3: THE ELEMENT FOR A GOOD WEB PAGE Ways to make your website short and concise  Remove the unnecessary words.  Remove welcome statement.  Remove of reduce the length of the instructions by making the website self explanatory.  Don’t put too much content in one single web page.  Try to use a visual hierarchy to separate the important content from less important content

7 PRINCIPLE 3: THE ELEMENT FOR A GOOD WEB PAGE (CONT.) Great navigation that let the users keep track of themselves  Provide ways to let the users get to their destination quickly.  Categorizing products and services into section and subsections.  Allow the user to search the for products or service.  Provide a site ID that allow users to get back to home page  Provide utilities to help user understand the web page  Provide breadcrumbs for the users to keep track of where they are, or are they in the correct path.

8 PRINCIPLE 3: THE ELEMENT FOR A GOOD WEB PAGE (CONT.) Home page properties:  Center of the website.  Provide navigation to other subpage.  Short and concise.  Include all the information a user need to know about this website in a simple form(section and subsections).  Provide tagline to describe what the website is for.
