2 Using Technology in the Classroom New technologies allow for new forms of learning within the classroom These technologies have expanded the definition of a “literacy” A literacy used to be defined as pages of text, now it expands beyond

3 Video Blogging in the English Classroom One Example of the new ways technology is being used in the classroom is the use of video blogging.

4 Video Blogging in the Classroom Video blogging, also known as Vlogging, is a kind of blog, or online journal, using videos instead of just plain text. Entries can contain embedded videos (from sites like Youtube or Teachertube) and video links, as well as text and other images. Since Youtube was launched in 2005, video blogging has become increasingly popular, especially among teens. Like basic blogging, video blogging is often used to provide commentary on a particular subject or prompt readers for discussion. Readers can leave comments in the reply/ respond/comment section. 7 Features of PowerPoint Displays clear, easy-to-read text Allows placement of hyperlinks to websites and other slides Allows pictures to accompany text Creates a clear, smooth, concise way to present content User-Friendly

8 Conclusion Web sites, video blogging and PowerPoint presentations are all incredible teaching resources When used correctly, these sources can convey one meaning in multiple mediums These resources are literacies that explain content in a different form than traditional text
