www.yeslearning.org About Pro-Ohio?  Ohio based company focused only on Ohio Assessments  Educators and researchers focused only on Ohio  Dedicated to following historical and current testing metrics that help identify which are the “power indicators” most often assessed

www.yeslearning.org What is Pro-Ohio?  A diagnostic tool to help teachers prepare students in Grades 2 thru 10 for success on the Ohio Achievement and the Ohio Graduation Tests.  Includes paper and pencil benchmark tests and short- cycle web assessments correlated to the State Standards in Math, Reading, Science & Social Studies.  Enables teachers to continuously measure instructional effectiveness so that teachers can continually adjust instruction based on progress toward reaching defined goals (scores).

www.yeslearning.org Why Pro-Ohio?  Ease of use, sensitive to teacher time constraints  Ohio Only - Tests aligned to OAT & OGT.  Both paper & web-based tests  Fast turnaround on the paper test data  Instant, detailed short-cycle reports  Professional Development & Mentoring with YES

www.yeslearning.org PRO-Ohio Focuses on the most Frequently Tested Indicators Data Analysis: Benchmark A (Interpret Graphical Displays) was asked 8 times since 2003 Power Indicators

www.yeslearning.org Pro-Ohio 3-Step Process BENCHMARK ASSESSMENT SHORT-CYCLE WEB ASSESSMENTS REMEDIATION / INTERVENTION

www.yeslearning.org Step 1: Benchmark Assessment  Two (2) Benchmark Tests » Form A: Given in the First Quarter » Form B: Given in the Third Quarter  Pencil & Paper to Mimic Standard Tests » One test for Math, Reading, Science & Social Studies » Grade Level Test Booklet with 45-50 Questions » Contains two (2) questions per indicator, including open ended writing questions » Scan sheets are used to collect answers

www.yeslearning.org Benchmark Test Sample Question

www.yeslearning.org Benchmark Test Sample Answer Sheet  Consistent with traditional standardized tests  Either “pre-slugged” with personal data or filled in by teachers or students

www.yeslearning.org Benchmark Testing Process  Administer the Test in each Classroom » Each test will take 1.5 hrs. to complete » Only one test should be given per day » Schedule a make-up test day for absent students within the same week.  Results are tabulated by Pro-Ohio and returned to school leaders.

www.yeslearning.org Preparation for the Test  Preparing Students » Stress importance of test to students (it may be difficult for them)  Marking Answer Keys » Have students circle the answer(s) in the booklet and then transfer to the scan-sheet. This minimizes errors  IEP Students » Students on IEP’s should take the tests with the same accommodations given for the OAT/OGT

www.yeslearning.org Getting Benchmark Results  After testing is complete, turn tests in to the office with the teacher cover-sheet  School sends tests back to PRO-Ohio  Pro-Ohio returns results to school, YES reviews with the principal; reports are generated for each teacher.  Report Data will be reviewed and explained during your hands-on workshop

www.yeslearning.org Step 2: Short-Cycle Web Assessments  Web-based assessments- no installation  Specific to grade-level indicators  Random multiple choice questions  Only 10-15 minutes to complete  Computer graded - instant feedback  Ongoing Progress Monitoring

www.yeslearning.org Examine Short Cycle Data  Use the Data to Drive Instruction » Examine the Data… use it as a School Improvement Tool » Gain insight into student performance –what do I know about each individual student’s strengths & weaknesses » Track progress for continuous improvement using the short-cycle web assessments » Ongoing data study and team collaboration perpetuate school improvement cycle

www.yeslearning.org Step 3: Remediation & Intervention  How do I meet Student’s Needs? » Be Ready to Address Change » Plan for Instruction - Alter Practices » Re-Teach » Individual Instruction by Utilizing Resources

www.yeslearning.org Ongoing! Repeating Steps 2 & 3 SHORT-CYCLE WEB ASSESSMENTS REMEDIATION INTERVENTION
