AdvOSS Policy Server Compliant with industry standard functionality specified by olicy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) It is at the heart of any modern day service provider’s core network and allows to define rules that govern the way services are delivered and charged

Policy Management AdvOSS Policy Server includes a rule based engine along with options for: 0 Bandwidth Management 0 QoS Management 0 Charging Management 0 Advanced Rule Based Actions

Quotas 0 AdvOSS Policy Server also includes a quota manager that allows counting of usage by individual subscribers. 0 Allows to fulfill many important use cases.

Volume Caps AdvOSS PCRF allows a Service Provider to create subscriptions that have bundled volume caps e.g. 0 1MB-10GB 0 1MB-Unlimited volume

Fair-Usage AdvOSS PCRF allows a service provider to define fair-usage policies. Once a user goes beyond its usage threshold(s), fair-usage actions can kick-on. They may be: 0 Bandwidth throttling 0 Start of Charging 0 Service Denial

Fair-Usage 0 Bandwidth throttling

Fair-Usage 0 Start of Charging

Fair-Usage 0 Service Denial

Time Based Quotas AdvOSS PCRF allows to define time based packages where the usage is only counted during specific periods of the day allowing defining of packages like: 1MB – 5GB with unlimited usage from 2:00am to 8:00am

Advanced Quotas AdvOSS PCRF allows defining very advanced quotas through counter matching algorithms e.g. 0 Quotas for roaming only 0 Quotas for a specific access method like Wi-Fi 0 Quotas for a specific AAA Realm

Advanced Quotas

Mid-Service Alerts A Service Provider can interrupt the service and push mid-service alerts from time to time. This may be for payment reminders, policy notices, advice of charge, advertisements or other reasons.

Advanced Actions PCRF allows many advanced actions based on rules evaluation including: 0 Customized Notifications 0 Lawful Intercept 0 Different Regulatory requirements 0 Captive Portals 0 Network Provisioning

Advanced Actions Captive Portal

Advanced Actions Payment Notification

Advanced Actions Package Upgrade

Advanced Actions Bill shock Prevention

Advanced Actions Advice Of Charge

Advanced Actions Grace Period

Other use cases Many more use cases can be realized over a PCRF solution. Some of them can be found at http://advoss.com/pcrf-business-usecases.html http://advoss.com/pcrf-business-usecases.html

DPI Use Cases In conjunction with a DPI (Deep Packet Inspection) engine, AdvOSS PCRF offers control of individual application flows offering: 0 Flow Based Control 0 Application Based QoS Assurance

Advanced QoS Management If the Enforcement layer supports more granular QoS control, then AdvOSS PCRF can be configured to control QoS parameters for the full pipe or individual flows. Main QoS parameters include: 0 Maximum Bit Rate (MBR) 0 Guaranteed Bit Rate (GBR) 0 Allocation Retention Policy (APR)

Diameter Interface AdvOSS PCRF is fully diameter compliant and offer standard 3GPP interfaces for Diameter protocol including: 0 Gx 0 Rx 0 Ud (immediate roadmap) 0 Rx+ (roadmap)

AdvOSS Service Control HSS (Home Subscriber Server) 0 AdvOSS HSS is required by any communications service providers such as Telecoms, wired and wireless broadband providers in 3G, 4G, LTE or other technologies as the centralized data repository. It stores subscribers identities and subscription data about all subscribers and their service offerings. It is also required to keep track of service add-ons and their subscriptions by individual subscribers. It serves service profiles to Application servers or policy enforcement points. AdvOSS HSS

Service ControlProducts Roadmap G Gx: Between PCRF and PCEF (residing on PDN- GW) Gxa: Between PCRF and Access BBERF (Bearer Binding and Event reporting function) Gxc: Between PCRF and Serving BBERF Gy: Between PDN-GW and OCS (Online charging Function) Gz: (Between PDN-GW and OFCS (Offline Charging System) SS9: Between Home-PCRF and visited PCRF RRx: Between AF and PCRF Q2 2014: support for LTE Main Goal is to make products PCC Framework compliance which will automatically make AdvOSS Service Management Products LTE Compliant (Expected to be completed Q2 2014). AdvOSS is in process of implementing the following interfaces.

AdvOSS SDP Software Architecture

Platform Distributed Data processing 0 Data Replication-Central write & Distributed reads 0 Data partitioning with replication

AdvOSS Solutions Key technology Benefits High Availability

AdvOSS Solutions Key Technology Benefits Scalability 0 AdvOSS uses the following technologies and architectures to achieve Scalability 0 Dispatcher/Server Model 0 Layers of Dispatching 0 Replication Dispatcher/Server Model

AdvOSS Solution Scalability 0 AAA Server is composed of a front-end protocol dispatcher/load balancer that acts as a proxy for all NAS clients. 0 The Dispatcher load balances the traffic to AAA applications instances spread across multiple CPU cores 0 Each instance of Dispatcher is capable of handling up to 2000 AAA requests per second for RADIUS/DIAMETER protocol whereas a single instance of AAA Application running on one CPU core is capable of handling a minimum of 80 TPS.

AdvOSS Solution Scalability: Upgrade path to 20K TPS and beyond Scalability to 20k TPS and beyond can be achieved by: 0 Adding additional Dispatchers running on new Hardware 0 Running AAA applications spread across multiple CPU cores behind additional dispatchers 0 Adding an additional layer of Dispatching as shown in the following slide

Scalability: Upgrade path to 20K TPS and beyond 0 Layers of Dispatching: For large scale Operators extra layer of dispatching can be added

AdvOSS Solutions Key Technology Benefits Database Scalability 0 Replication: AdvOSS database designs separate the OLTP Servers where all writing of new data is going on from the OLAP Servers where all heavy reads and analytical processing is going on. This provides almost limitless scalability as it is possible to put more and more servers all getting a copy of data in real-time where heavier processing can be done without effecting the master Transaction Processing Servers.

AdvOSS Solutions Key Technology Benefits Heterogeneous Databases 0 Replication between Heterogeneous Databases: AdvOSS uses advanced database replication middleware to synchronize data between different types of databases e.g. from MySQL to Oracle in real-time.

AdvOSS Solutions Key Technology Benefits Redundancy AdvOSS uses different technologies in combination to achieve redundancy in the system Storage Redundancy: All databases are redundant and use advanced multi-master replication techniques to keep up to date with each other. Computation Redundancy 0 Database Multi-Master replication offers computation redundancy as well. Processing can be switched to secondary servers in real-time without loss of continuity. 0 Switching and AAA All Switching and AAA architectures work on a dispatcher / Serving node architecture. Dispatcher does real- time load balancing among all Serving Nodes. If any Serving node goes down, processing carries on through other available nodes.

AdvOSS Solutions Key Technology Benefits Disaster Recovery The System can be deployed in geographically distant data centers, for disaster recovery reasons. Using the DR setup, existing services realized through AdvOSS Solution deployed at main site can keep on working in the case of a disaster that makes primary solution unavailable for any reason.
