Introducing CIPS Chartered Body Charitable Status Awarding Body Membership Organisation CIPS for Business Chartered Body CIPS was established in 1932 and awarded a royal charter in 1992. CIPS Royal Charter objectives are to “promote and develop for the public benefit the art and science of purchasing and supply; to promote and maintain standards of professional skill, ability and integrity; and to educate persons engaged in the practice of purchasing and supply.” Charitable Status CIPS not-for-profit status means that its operating surplus is reinvested in supporting the profession.  CIPS promotes and develops standards, skills and abilities, offering best practice tools and techniques and leading edge thinking for everyone in procurement and supply management. Awarding Body CIPS is “recognised by the regulatory authorities for the purpose of awarding accredited qualifications” – as per the QCA Code of Practice. Every year some 44,000 exams are taken in qualifications awarded by CIPS. MCIPS is mandated by four national governments. The Awarding Body - Protects the interests of learners Ensures standards are maintained over time and across qualifications through quality assurance policies and procedures Manages the integrity of the assessment processes and outcomes Develops, delivers and awards qualifications Manages incidents to lessen adverse effects and assure public confidence Provides an annual statement to Ofqual Membership organisation CIPS is independent and an arbiter of best practise with a CIPS community of 106,000 across 150 countries, the largest professional organisation supporting the Procurement and Supply profession in the world. Our members sign up to CIPS code of ethics. Business As well as its charitable status and its role as a chartered body, CIPS is a business. CIPS supports organisations of all sizes, across all geographic regions and in all sectors and it is through sales of our business products that we help to fund our not for profit work.

Chartered Status Raising the standard of procurement and supply Become an expert Signify to the world your commitment to excellence with Chartered Status Chartered Status is linked to the CIPS Charter and approved by Her Majesty the Queen. Its purpose is to demonstrate the highest level of professionalism and commitment to the profession and is equivalent to a postgraduate diploma. Current MCIPS and FCIPS members can apply It reinforces your qualifications, CPD status, ethical awareness and understanding of current practices Why have we done this? There is a clear and growing demand from members for greater recognition for the profession The next step for CIPS is to align Chartered Status with other chartered bodies (such as accounting, surveying and engineering). Further notes if required Chartered Status will be the next step up from MCIPS. It will not affect the status of MCIPS and indeed the major initiative on licensing the profession is built around MCIPS being fixed as the global standard. The other significant benefit of Chartered Status will be making CPD a requirement for members to maintain the designation. This will ensure our members keep up to date with their knowledge and thinking. Chartered status in an enhancement of MCIPS and FCIPS grades of membership. How can I achieve silver or gold CPD Status? There are three categories of CPD activity: > Knowledge – improving your theoretical and practical knowledge of procurement > Skills – improving your ability to do your job as a procurement professional > Personal development – improving non-procurement related knowledge and skills To achieve silver or gold CPD status, you must record CPD hours in every category during your CPD year. However there are both a minimum and a maximum number of CPD hours for the personal development category which can contribute towards your CPD status. Simply ensure you record your learning within your CPD account and the CPD tool will do the rest. The CPD tool will calculate how many CPD hours you have recorded in each CPD category and it will show you a summary of how many CPD hours you have recorded in each CPD category, and a summary of how many CPD hours contribute towards your CPD status.

Chartered Procurement and Supply Professionals 30 CPD HOURS Maintaining Chartered Status Silver status CPD Up to date CIPS Ethical Procurement and Supply Certificate Annual subscription Chartered Status in not a permanent award and each year members will be expected to meet certain criteria to retain it. Members need to renew their annual membership subscription – there is no additional cost to whatever the current MCIPS or FCIPS annual subscription rate is at that time. Must complete Silver Status CPD - this can be verified in a candidates MyCIPS on line account. Hours are accumulated in line with a members renewal notice, therefore at each renewal date CPD will be reviewed by CIPS to ensure those with Chartered Status have recorded a minimum of Silver Status CPD hours at time of renewal. Must have an up to date certificate of achievement in CIPS Ethical Procurement and Supply. There will inevitably be some variances in completion dates on the Ethics test and when a member renewal date is due these will all be aligned into one renewal date following the first renewal after Chartered Status is awarded.

These accredited MBA programmes have already been mapped to the Advanced Professional level of the Global Standard There is a position statement that explains the CIPS rationale for accrediting MBA programmes instead of MSc programmes. This will be available on the website when the Charter applications open in January. Experiential Route The experiential route has been developed to provide an alterative route for individuals to the Academic and Applied learning routes. See further slides Applied learning A CIPS accredited Masters Practitioner Programme offers an applied learning route to Charter either through a corporate or syndicated programme. Mapped to the CIPS Global Standard Advanced Professional level Equivalent to a University Postgraduate Degree/Diploma Take MER or CIPS Qualifications Route

Chartered Procurement and Supply Professionals Academic route Your path to achieving Chartered Status STAGE 1 APPLICATION STAGE 2 VIVA INTERVIEW STAGE 3 OUTCOME We anticipate applicants will have already completed one of the accredited MBA programmes listed on our website before applying for Chartered status. The total time taken for each MBA programme varies. The above timescales are based on an applicant providing all of the required information at time of application. Applicants we be required to consult the list of accredited MBA programmes to ensure they are eligible to apply. Full details about what to expect at the viva interview is available on the website.

Chartered Procurement and Supply Professionals Experiential route Your path to achieving Chartered Status STAGE 1 APPLICATION STAGE 2 ONLINE COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT STAGE 3 PERSONAL STATEMENTS STAGE 4 VIVA STYLE INTERVIEW STAGE 5 OUTCOME - CHARTERED PROCUREMENT AND SUPPLY PROFESSIONAL STATUS We’ve created an experiential route to Chartered Status Applicants will be expected to submit a current CV to CIPS. CIPS will then check that the applicant has a minimum of 3 years post MCIPS experience (not required to be continuous) CIPS will also check that the CIPS Ethical Procurement and Supply certificate is up to date. The next step is to complete an online competency assessment to assess an applicants knowledge and capabilities themes identified in the Global Standard at the Advanced Professional Level. At the next stage candidates will be required to write four personal statements of 1,000 words. At the next stage candidates will be invited to attend a viva style interview, details of what to expect in the interview are available on the Chartered Status web pages. On successful completion candidates will be awards Chartered Status. There are processes along the way that provide advice about what happens if a candidate doesn’t successfully complete a step and what’s expected from CIPS and the candidate to proceed. All will be made available for applicants to review before embarking on this route.

Procurement Leadership Chartered Procurement and Supply Professionals Applied learning route Your path to achieving Chartered Status STAGE 1 APPLICATION STAGE 2 VIVA INTERVIEW STAGE 3 OUTCOME Those applying for Chartered Status through the Applied Learning route will have achieved the Master Practitioner Award, this is usually achieved through a corporate learning programme and clients will have a dedicated Programme Manager to help organisations and the learners that have been on those programmes to understand the benefits of becoming a Chartered Procurement and Supply Professional and the application process.
