Certificate III Co-Ordinator: Fran Hughes – Ext 8625 Stage 1 Co-Ordinator: Gael Stewart - Ext 8720

 Google: Randwick Institute Wikispace Home. Then on left hand side click on “My Study”, then scroll down and click on to “Child Studies”, then click onto the link “Child studies Wikispace”  OR  http://childcare10.sydneyinstitute.wikispaces.n et/

 Stage 1 has YELLOW (Yellow) documents  Certificate III has PINK (Pink) documents.

 The name of the group and students you are assessing along with the dates and location/phone numbers of workplacements.  An Assessor copy of the unit tasks for your perusal so that you are able familiarise yourself prior to student visit.  An Assessment Rating Scale for each of the students you are assessing. Note: there may be students who are exempt from some units due to Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

Please contact Centres in the first week to arrange a visit and ask to speak to students regarding expectations.

 Your contact phone/mobile numbers will be given to students by their Co- Ordinators.  Please ensure Co-Ordinators have a current/correct number.

 100% attendance is required – students will need to “make up” any time missed.  Please refer to “Withdrawal from workplacement” on page no. 20 of Assessor booklet. It is stressed to students that “incomplete record keeping” will place them “at risk”. Students need to maintain their written tasks throughout.

 Initial and date each page of the student’s folder as you read it.  Countersign all necessary pages throughout student workplacement document e.g. “Student code of Conduct”.  Ensure you record in the carbon book units of work that are Competent at this stage, units of work that are Not Yet Competent at this stage, date and time of next visit and assessment expectations. Ensure student is also fully aware of expectations and signs and dates all pages of your written feedback.

 This will be available to students during workplacement on….

On the first visit, if the student is Not Yet Competent at this stage, please place a “1” on the right hand side of the specific ‘Summary of Performance Criteria’ area. If the student has been determined to be Competent on the first visit, grading is not required.

An indication of grading must be inserted on the second visit for each area in the Summary of Performance Criteria. Please make sure that the student is aware that this is NOT the final grade. The final grade will be determined only when the student’s folder is finally marked after workplacement.

Please take special note of the Post Workplacement section. For every Unit, each section of the Summary of Performance Criteria must have a mark out of 4 attached to it. You then need to add these marks to give a total grade for the unit. This in turn must be transferred into a final percentage mark. Check your calculations!

Attached to the completed rating scales should be: 1.A copy of the service’s feedback 2.Your carbon feedback notes 3.Parent observation sheet

Please remember a week turnabout for folders to be returned to students, particularly for Certificate 3 who will be leaving their course in Week 18. Students need to co-sign their final marks – if possible arrange a post work-placement meeting.
