In this course, you are required to complete 24 credit points to graduate CPL - Credit for Prior Learning If you are applying for Credit for Prior Learning (CPL), you must submit your transcripts, unit outlines (for matching Deakin units) and a completed CPL application form prior to the start of Trimester 2. CPL application deadline: Monday 13 July Study Abroad and Exchange Recommended in your Second or Third year of studies

8 CRICOS Provider Code: 00113B School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences H343 Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science Course Rules Must complete 24 credit points : 14 core units plus 10 electives A maximum of 10 credit points can be from Level 1 Must complete a Compulsory Practicum Unit in Third Year (HSE312 Exercise and Sport Science Practicum). Elective units (10 credit points): 2 credit points must be from the Faculty of Health A maximum of 8 credit points may be selected from other schools in the university (subject to quotas, and your timetable) Laboratory Safety unit Compulsory HSE010 Laboratory Safety Unit (optional) HSN010 Laboratory Safety Unit only if you enrol in a Nutrition unit, eg. HSN104

Arts, Business, Science etc. Refer to the online course handbook for more information. You must enrol in your major sequence (‘unit set’) in StudentConnect when enrolling into your 2015 units. This can be changed at anytime.

What is the benefit of being recognised as an Exercise Scientist? Membership with ESSA Exemption from completing the Certificate 4 in Fitness for Kinect membership (Physical Activity Australia) Ability to obtain professional indemnity insurance to work in the fitness industry Ability to become an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) with further study Ability to become an accredited sports scientist with appropriate industry experience More information is available at the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences careers website at: http://www.deakin.edu.au/exercise-nutrition-sciences/careers Graduates awarded credit for prior learning for non-university studies may not be eligible for immediate registration with ESSA and should seek further clarification from a course advisor about registration via email ens-enquire@deakin.edu.au

12 CRICOS Provider Code: 00113B School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences Certificate III and IV in Fitness accreditations From 2016 onwards, students may obtain accreditation with Physical Activity Australia to be able to work as an Exercise Instructor. To be eligible to gain Certificate III in Fitness accreditation at the completion of first year you must complete the following units for 2015/2016: Trimester 2 2015 HSE102 (core unit) Trimester 1 2016 HSE101 (core unit) HSE103 (core unit) HSE105 (elective unit) Students will also need to have completed a Level 2 First Aid course and have a current CPR certificate during time of registration. Classes (lectures) for most units are available online if you are unable to attend in person.
