1.One substance. 2.Grow in certain rocks 1.A mixture of different minerals. 2.Produce minerals.

1.They both occur naturally. 2.They are not alive. 3.They both have ways of identification.

Rock that forms when melted rock cools and hardens. The first form of a rock next to magma. Crystals form in the rock. If the rock is formed underground, the crystals grow larger than they would above ground.

Rock formed when sediments are cemented together.

Rock that experiences change do to great pressure and/or heat. The rock may look a lot differently than it was before.

People use many ways to identify different rocks and minerals. Luster: The way the item reflects. Hardness: how hard it is. Color: it’s color. Streak: The powder it leaves behind. Gravity: How heavy the item is. Cleavage: What it breaks into.

The Moh’s Scale is a scale to determine and compare the hardness of minerals. The scale goes from one to ten. Mho’s Scale

As animals have a Life Cycle, so do rocks. –Magma is pushed out of the earth’s surface. –Magma cools and forms igneous rock –The igneous rocks are broken and become a sedimentary rock. –Rock is put upon great pressure and heat and forms metamorphic rock. –Rock is pushed down back to the mantel and melted. –After a long time, the rock is pushed back to the surface to begin a new cycle.
