Biographical information Born: In Eaglesfield, England June 6, 1766. Died: In Manchester, England July 27, 1844. Nationality: English. jobs: Chemist, Scientist, Teacher, Writer.

Family His family was Joseph Dalton and Deborah Greenup Dalton. Both were Quakers. His father was a weaver. His older brother Jonathan, and his sister Mary went to a Quaker school near their home.

FACTS Dalton was a British chemist who discovered the atomic theory of matter. Dalton was color blind and so was his brother Jonathan.
