We All Like New Things People like things that are new: car, house, job Why? The quality is new and the relationship is new Christians have a new beginning (Jn. 3:5; 2 Cor. 5:17; Gal. 6:15)

New Creatures in Christ We have a new position… “if any man is be in Christ…” A new fellowship (Rom. 5:10; 1 Jn. 1:3ff) A new family (Gal. 3:26-27; Eph. 2:15; Tit. 2:14) A new home and hope (2 Tim. 4:8; Tit. 1:2; 1 Pet. 1:4; 2 Pet. 3:13; Rev. 21:1-5)

New Creatures in Christ We have a new character… “he is a new creature…” A new creation (Jas. 1:18) A new purpose (1 Cor. 6:20; Gal. 2:20; Phil. 3:7-14; 1 Thess. 1:10) A new outlook, attitude, values and aim (Mt. 6:19,33; 10:37; Col. 3:1; Jas. 4:13-15; 1 Jn. 2:15)

New Creatures in Christ We have a new life… “the old things are passed away…” A new set of practices and responsibilities (Jn. 4:24,35; Acts 2:42; Rom. 6:3-4; Eph. 2:10; 2 Pet. 1:5; 3:18) A new set of thoughts (Rom. 8:5ff; Phil. 4:8), and words (Eph. 4:29; Col. 4:6)

New Creatures in Christ We have a new life… “the old things are passed away…” A new set of promises (Heb. 4:16; 13:5-6) A new rule of faith and practice (1 Cor. 9:22; Col. 3:17; Heb. 8:8; 1 Pet. 4:11)

We Must Keep the New … New Do we work to keep new things new? The old can come back if we are not careful (1 Cor. 5:7; Eph. 4:22ff; Col. 3:5ff) Make the effort Avoid what is “old” and comfortable Keep “renewing” the mind (Rom. 12:2)
