Love Ralph Waldo Emerson
By. Alanna and Wynter

Burning Passions for Love
“I was as a gem concealed; Me my burning ray revealed” By Koran One might think Emerson put this quote at the beginning of his essay because a gem is as precious as love, and when you love someone you want to protect that love between you and the other person. Your burning passion for your significant other should be shown to the world like ones “burning ray is revealed.”

I Promise… “Every promise of the soul has innumerable fulfillments” (Emerson 1). We liked this line because as humans we all make countless promises that we desire to keep. In marriage, we promise to love and care for our significant other, you promise to cherish the love you have with them.

Soul Mates In the first portion of the essay, Emerson talks about how everyone has a soul mate. He goes on to say “love at first sight,” he means that we are not falling in love with a complete stranger, the person is our soul mate and it is meant to be. “But we see them exchange a glance, or betray a deep emotion, and we are no longer strangers” (Emerson 3).

Truth We, as human beings, protect ourselves with lies and false perception. Everything is more beautiful when it is pure and true, a relationship should not be filled with lies. “Everything is beautiful seen from the point of the intellect, or as truth” (Emerson 3).

Marriage is more than… “By teaching that marriage signifies nothing but housewife’s thrift, and that woman’s life has no other aim” (Emerson 14). We disagree with this because, marriage doesn’t always make women housewives. Women do have other goals in life other than being a housewife. They can contribute to their household, just as much as men.

True Love When one is truly in love, we are willing to do anything for them. “They would give us all as ransom for the beautiful, the beloved head, not one hair of which shall be harmed” (Emerson 17). We believe Emerson is saying that a person who is truly in love will serve as a constant protector, because true love has no other option.

Passion “Passion beholds its object as a perfect unit” (Emerson 15). It can be believed that Emerson is saying, when one has passion for someone or something, they do not want to let it go. They would do anything to protect it, so that the couple will function as one “perfect unit.”

Our Concept “But this dream of love, though is beautiful, is only one scene in our play” (Emerson 16).The meaning behind this is even though one might spend their whole childhood dreaming of finding that special someone, one cannot just focus on finding love. There is further meaning to suggest that life has many chapters to experience and dreams to pursue and accomplish.
